This original oil painting captures the profound moment of transition from emotional darkness to light—a reminder that even the smallest spark can grow to illuminate your entire world. It symbolizes hope, renewal, and inner awakening, reflecting the quiet yet powerful shift that occurs when we choose to see beyond our own shadows. The first light of dawn, when the sun’s delicate rays begin to rise, inspired this piece as a metaphor for new beginnings and clarity.

The light green background infuses the composition with harmony and serenity, while soft orange undertones beneath the palms bring a gentle warmth that echoes the awakening of the spirit.

The process of Painting
"First Light”

First Light is an oil painting born from a deeply personal moment of transformation—a moment when I found myself standing between darkness and hope.

In 2023, I was in the northern part of Colombia, in a place many consider sacred: Parque Tayrona. I had gone there searching for clarity. I was far from home, far from familiarity, and deeply questioning my path—especially my decision to become an artist. I felt lost, confused, and unable to see what awaited me ahead. Everything inside felt dark.

One morning, I woke before sunrise. Outside, the world was completely black—no shapes, no outlines, no horizon. I remember thinking:
“This is exactly how I feel. There is nothing to see inside me.”

But then, slowly, a small ray of sunlight appeared.

At first, it touched only a tiny corner of the sky. Then it expanded—stretching outward, growing brighter, filling everything with warmth and color. And in that moment, something shifted within me. I felt my heart open. I felt hope—small at first, but real.

I realized that just as the sun had always been there behind the darkness, my light had been inside me all along. I only needed to trust it, nurture it, and allow it to rise.

First Light is the visual memory of that awakening.

The soft green background was chosen intentionally—to evoke calmness, harmony, and the first sense of inner peace returning.
The slightly chaotic sky mirrors the emotional turbulence I was experiencing at the time.
And the rising palms express the desire to let that light expand from within—to grow toward clarity, courage, and self-trust.

This painting is a reminder:

Even when life feels heavy, unclear, or overwhelming— the light is already on its way.
It has never left you.
It has always lived within you.

with love,
