The Story Behind "Midst of Chaos”

There are moments in life when everything feels noisy.

Not necessarily because something dramatic has happened, but because our inner world becomes crowded with thoughts, uncertainty, emotions, and questions. Slowly, that internal landscape begins to color everything we see. The outside world starts to feel just as overwhelming as the one inside us.

This painting emerged from reflecting on those moments.

I've learned that the way we experience our surroundings is often a reflection of what is happening within. When the mind becomes unsettled, the world can appear equally restless.

As I envisioned this piece, layers of leaves and foliage naturally formed around the composition. They became a visual expression of emotional turbulence—the sensation of trying to find clarity while everything feels in motion.

Yet in the center of this landscape stands a blooming wild valerian.

It doesn't dominate the scene. It simply exists.

Its quiet presence became the emotional anchor of the painting. To me, it represents that gentle inner knowing that appears even in difficult moments—the part of ourselves that remains calm and quietly whispers that everything will eventually find its place.

The Language of Color

The background was chosen before the flower itself.

It begins with soft pink, a color I associate with compassion, tenderness, and returning to the heart. As it rises, it transitions into purple, symbolizing intuition, vision, and the ability to remember where we are heading, even when the present feels uncertain.

Together, these colors tell the story of moving from emotional overwhelm toward inner clarity.

Finding Stillness

The Midst of Chaos is not a painting about eliminating chaos.

It is about discovering that calm can exist within it.

Like the wild valerian, we don't have to wait for life to become perfect before we continue to grow. Sometimes our deepest strength is simply remaining present, trusting the quiet wisdom that lives beneath the noise.
