This piece is inspired by the gentle strength of the magnolia, a flower that opens slowly, patiently, and with quiet confidence. It reflects the sacred act of opening one’s heart — softly yet powerfully, in one’s own time.
The bright yellow background symbolizes empowerment, confidence, and inner radiance, with glimpses of color peeking through each brushstroke.
This piece invites you to soften, to trust, and to step gently into your own power.
the Story Behind "Open to Receive”
There is a quiet kind of strength that lives inside a magnolia. It’s one of the reasons she has become one of my favorite flowers to paint. She holds power and softness at the same time — an unwavering presence wrapped in patience and tenderness. She doesn’t rush. She doesn’t push. She simply opens when she knows it’s time.
Every time I watch a magnolia bloom, I feel she carries a message — not loud, not urgent, but unmistakably clear. She whispers:
“Open. Open your heart to receive.
You are worthy of everything your soul desires.”
And there is something profoundly healing in that reminder.
So often, we focus on giving, supporting, caring, creating… and we forget the other half of the cycle — receiving. Allowing ourselves to be open. Allowing abundance, love, inspiration, and connection to flow in. Magnolia teaches me that receiving is not selfish. It is sacred. It completes the balance.
For this painting, I chose a bright yellow background — a color deeply tied to empowerment, confidence, and personal strength. Yellow carries the warmth of self-esteem and the energy of standing fully in your light. By letting touches of yellow appear between each brushstroke, I wanted the entire piece to feel like an invitation to step into your own radiance.
Like the magnolia, we open slowly.
We open when we feel safe.
We open when we remember who we are.
This piece is a gentle reminder of that unfolding — a celebration of worthiness, inner strength, and the beauty of receiving.
with love,
