This painting reflects the ongoing inner interplay between light and shadow. It explores the transformative journey of allowing oneself to be illuminated by light amidst the complexities of life's shadows. We might have many shadows, but we shine if we allow the light to penetrate through.
Inspired by a Gingo Tree planted in 1750 at Padua’s Botanical Garden.
The process of Painting
"Penetreting Light”
This painting is one of the closest to my heart because it speaks to something I believe we all experience—the ongoing dance between light and shadow within ourselves.
Life is never just one thing. It’s woven with doubts, fears, insecurities, joy, and clarity. At times, the shadows feel overwhelming, as if they might swallow us whole. And yet, there is always light—sometimes faint, sometimes bold—waiting for us to let it in.
This piece is my attempt to explore that delicate, transformative journey: opening ourselves to illumination. To me, the shadows are not enemies to be erased. They are part of who we are, part of what makes us whole. When we allow light to flow through us—whether through awareness, trust, or simply being present—the shadows shift. They stop being barriers and instead become contrasts that make the light shine brighter.
The inspiration came from a very real and powerful image: a Ginkgo tree planted in 1750 at Padua’s Botanical Garden. Its branches extend in every direction, both strong and delicate, catching sunlight in ways that create a breathtaking interplay of brightness and darkness. Standing beneath it, I felt the wisdom of centuries etched into its form—an unspoken reminder that resilience lives in balance, in allowing both shadow and light to coexist.
Through this painting, I didn’t just want to capture the tree itself, but the truth it carries: that beauty comes from wholeness, and wholeness comes from embracing all parts of ourselves.
This original oil painting is a reminder that no matter how many shadows accompany us, light is always there—ready to shine through if we let it.
with love,
