Reaching High

Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 120 x 80 cm
Year Painted: 2026

Reaching High explores the innate human desire to transcend the familiar and grow toward the unknown. A lone tree rises from a dense, complex landscape into the clarity of an open blue sky—a visual metaphor for expansion, trust, and the courageous journey of becoming.

Created over a vibrant orange glow, the composition channels the energy of creativity, self-awareness, and inherent self-worth. This warmth represents the internal fire that sustains our momentum, even when the final destination remains beyond the horizon. It is a celebration of movement for the sake of growth, fueled by an unwavering belief in one’s own potential.

The process of Painting "Reaching High”

There are moments in life when clarity is not fully available, yet something within continues to move us forward.

This painting was created from that space — an inner desire to reach higher, even without knowing exactly toward what. Over time, I’ve learned that growth does not always begin with certainty. Sometimes it begins with trust.

This work reflects that shift.

At the center, a tree rises above a dense layer of plants and bushes. That lower landscape carries a weight—it represents the emotional and intellectual turbulence that often accompanies transformation. The doubts, the overthinking, the internal resistance. It is the terrain I inhabited for much of my life, before I finally quieted the noise to listen to what my heart was asking of me.

And still, something rises.

The tree extends upward, its branches and leaves intertwining with an open, limitless blue sky. That space represents possibility—the quiet but persistent knowing that we are capable of reaching far beyond what we currently understand.

The contrast is vital. The grounded density below and the openness above reflect the reality of becoming: we do not transcend our struggles; we grow through them.

Holding it all together is the orange background. For me, orange represents creativity, self-awareness, and self-worth. It is the internal force that sustains movement—the warmth that allows us to continue even when the map is not yet clear.

This painting is not about arrival. It is about trust.

Trusting that where we are being led is enough. Trusting that the desire to grow is, in itself, a form of direction. And most of all, trusting that we can reach—even when we don’t yet know what we are reaching for.
