The Story Behind "Wonder”
Some places have a way of awakening memories we didn't know we were carrying.
This painting began during a summer hike through a meadow filled with buttercup flowers.
Thousands of them.
Bright yellow, small enough to seem almost weightless, moving together in the breeze like tiny suns scattered across the landscape.
In Italian they are called botton d'oro—golden buttons.
As I stood there, someone shared a story that immediately captured my imagination.
Their grandmother used to say that these flowers were made from gold coins hidden by fairies.
I smiled.
For a brief moment, I wasn't looking at flowers anymore.
I was looking at possibility.
Children have a remarkable ability to accept wonder without questioning it. A simple flower can become treasure. A field becomes an adventure. The ordinary becomes magical.
Somewhere along the way, many of us lose that way of seeing.
This painting became my invitation to return to it.
The buttercups represent joy, curiosity, and the freedom to imagine beyond what is immediately visible.
The Language of Color
The background begins with purple, a color I associate with imagination, intuition, and vision.
As it moves toward orange, it becomes a celebration of creativity, vitality, and joyful expression.
Together, these colors describe the journey from imagining something beautiful to allowing ourselves to create it.
Returning to Wonder
Where Wonder Lives is a reminder that imagination isn't something reserved for childhood.
It is a way of moving through the world.
Sometimes all it takes is a meadow of tiny flowers to remember.
